Are you looking for a better process?
Financial planners, coaches and investment advisors vary greatly. I help YOU learn about your life and finances to take control, rather than ‘delegating’ it to someone else. I am Childfree and know that is different when doing life and financial planning.
Our Modular Financial Planning Process for Childfree Individuals, Couples and Groups
Rather than just create a plan for you that sits on your shelf, we work together through an iterative, modular financial planning process. In plain language, that means we develop the plan with you, piece by piece, and make adjustments and improvements over time. Effectively, we meet for an hour each month, look at where you are, and make progress on 1-2 areas each month.
Focus areas include: (modules)
- Cash Flow and Money Management (budgeting)
- Goal Setting and Planning (including FILE and FIRE)
- Debt Management
- Career Planning (including employee benefit analysis)
- Small Businesses and Side-Gigs
- Student Loan Repayment and Future Education Plans
- Investing and Saving
- Retirement including Social Security and Medicare
- Insurance (life, disability, long term care, and more)
- Tax Planning
- Estate Planning including Long-Term Care
- Caring for Others (elderly parents and other family members)
I help you with your investing by providing Advice-Only. That means I don’t take it over, I help you to learn how to manage your life and finances.
Its All About You
Together we set a priority list for the focus areas with the intent to touch on each of the areas across the year. I ask you to list your priorities (where to start) when we start. Reality is that as your financial planner and coach I may see some priorities that need to shift, but that it is a partnership. For example, I have yet to meet someone who is excited about tax planning, but it is a part of just about every decision you make.
The result is twofold: you improve your behavior with money and finance, and you have a plan to achieve your goals and dreams. Most of succeeding with money is based on your behaviors rather than money (as much as 80% or more) rather than the behavior of your money (investing and the like). In the end you have a ‘living’ financial plan. Here is an example financial plan.
Our guiding principle is that you need to understand the decisions you are making before you take any actions. I am here to help you learn and guide you through the process, not to take it over from you. It is your money, you need to understand what it is doing (and how it impacts your goals and dreams).
All of this is completed 1 hour at a time. We meet for an hour via Zoom and work together to make the plan in our RightCapital program. RightCapital allows you to see your progress in real time and will even allow us to run simulations to see how any change will likely impact your future.
